Thursday 14th May, Kings Heath vs Moseley

KH                    104 - 6 (18 overs)
Moseley            102 - 9 (18 overs)

On a miserable cold dark evening KH won the toss and opted to bat. Despite early wickets being lost opening bat Umar proceeded to dominate the innings and scored 52no in a competitive total of 104 - 6 off a reduced 18 overs. He was aided and abetted by a number of partners and it was pleasing to note that the majority of shots were "proper" cricket shots. In reply Moseley were initially kept under control by some good opening bowling by Naweed and Umar who both bowled out and were backed up by some equally good outfielding from the whole team. The introduction of skipper Louie and spinner Pardeep brought a flurry of wickets including a fine catch from Luke Baker. With Calum becoming the 5th bowler KH had spin from both ends and with further fine catching a comfortable win seemed secured. In true KH style however nerves started to play a role and with 10 required off 2 balls with the last pair facing 5 wides were conceded to put the game back in the mix. Skipper Louie steadied himself again and bowled out leaving Moseley 2 runs short to give KH a deserved win in their opening league game.

U13 Cup - KHCC Vs SuttonCC, Sunday 3rd May

It went to the very last ball with KHCC winning by 1 wicket.

Sutton batted first to make a respectable total of 105 for 7

Sutton opener John Sargeant batted skilfully and got to 41 inc 5 boundaries. He faced fast bowling from Rashurd Ali (1wkt) and medium pace from Naveed Udin (1wkt) with Hassan Farooq, Luke Turner, Tom Boyce and BenRattley in support. Umar Rehman came on and delivered a straight ball that was caught by Tom Boyce at cover. Umar (2wkts) and Louie Turpie (3wkts) then went about some tight and lively overs to see Sutton complete their 20 overs for 105.

KHCC began their response with Callum Bird and Umar Rehman facing pace bowling. Following Callum's dismissal to a straight ball that didn't rise Josh Baker came in to hit an assured 26.  He and Umar put on 39 before Umar was caught at point and Josh at mid off. Louie and Ben Rattley built a partnership with Louie reaching 13 before being caught at cover. Ben was joined by Naveed Udin and together they put on what seemed like a match winning 26 with Naveed piling on the pressure with 3 boundaries.

The tension rose in the last over when KHCC required 7 from 6 balls to win.  6 runs were achieved from 4 balls when Naveed was caught and bowled.  Bravely Rashurd Ali came to the crease having to get bat to ball.  He was adjudged to be LBW, and both teams completed their 20 overs for 105, but because of a 1 wicket advantage KHCC  were victorious
